Feel the sense of history as we travel past the Georgian sandstone warehouses of Salamanca Place and into the picturesque suburb of Battery Point. Settled in the early 1800’s, Battery Point has retained the colonial architecture and seafaring historical ambience. We make our way to the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellington for spectacular views over Hobart, the River Derwent, the Tasman Bridge and Bruny Island. It’s hard to believe this sub-alpine mountain is so close to the heart of the city.
Tasmania is a natural haven for Australian wildlife and we have species that don’t exist anywhere else in the world. Get up close and personal with the notorious Tasmanian Devil, cute wombats, fluffy quolls, possums, wallabies and a large variety of birdlife at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Then step back in time in the pretty historic village of Richmond. See a convict-constructed sandstone bridge, browse through antique shops, and call in to the oldest Catholic Church in Australia. If time permits, we will visit Kangaroo Bluff Gun Battery which was built in 1884 in response to the threat of a foreign warship attack. There are great views over Hobart, the river and kunanyi/Mt Wellington.

See why the pretty city of Hobart is so loved as we drive past the Georgian sandstone warehouses of Salamanca Place and into the winding streets and small laneways of Battery Point with its perfectly restored colonial buildings.
Enjoy the ride up to the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellington. The 21-kilometre drive goes through temperate rainforest and sub-alpine flora and past glacial rock formations. At the summit you will have spectacular panoramic views of Hobart, the River Derwent, Bruny Island and the Huon Valley. If the weather doesn’t permit, we will head to Mount Nelson Signal Station instead which offers stunning views at a lower level.
Meet our unique fluffy creatures at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. See famous Tasmanian Devils, waddling wombats, fluffy quolls and hand-feed wallabies.
Step back into the convict era at the pretty historic town of Richmond. Walk over and under the oldest convict-constructed sandstone bridge in Australia, and peruse the antique shops and galleries. Oh, and there’s an old-school lolly shop for those with a sweet tooth.
If time allows, we will visit Kangaroo Bluff Gun Battery which was built in 1884 in response to the threat of a foreign warship attack. Here you can explore the subterranean passages and armouries and learn about the history of the site. There are great views over Hobart, the Tasman Bridge and kunanyi/Mt Wellington.
